The Elgin Theatre Company presents its plays at Theatre 355, 355 East Chicago
Street, Elgin, Illinois or at the Elgin Art Showcase, 164 Division Street,
Elgin, Illinois. Summer shows, presented in between June 1 and September 1
of any year are presented at the Elgin Art Showcase. All other shows are
presented at Theatre 355. Please check your ticket or the web page for each show to
determine which venue a given show is being presented at. Elgin is located about 40 miles northwest of Chicago and about 25
miles northwest of O'Hare International Airport. Regularly scheduled public transportation to Elgin is available by both
bus and train.
This page provides the following:
Parking
Safe, convenient, and free parking is available at Theatre 355 and at the
Elgin Art Showcase. At Theatre 355 our parking
lot occupies half a square block in front of the door with additional parking is available on East
Chicago Street. At the Elgin Art Showcase use the City of Elgin parking lot
located on half block west of the theatre at the corner of Division and
Douglas (just south of City Hall and just east of the Post Office).
Auto
Specific directions for driving to Elgin from a number of area cities to Theatre
355 are as follows
(see below for a map):
From Chicago and the east:
- Take Interstate 90 (the Northwest Tollway) to the Il. 25 exit, south on Il. 25 to Chicago St. and then west to the theater or
- take Il. 19 (Irving Park Road) west to Elgin were it becomes Chicago St. and continue west to the theater or
- take US 20 (Lake St.) west to the Il. 25 exit, north on Il. 25 to Chicago St. and then west to the theater.
From Rockford and the west:
- Take Interstate 90 (the Northwest Tollway) to the Il. 25 exit, south on
Il. 25 to Chicago St. and then west to the theater or
- take US 20 east to the Il. 25 exit, north on Il. 25 to Chicago St. and
then west to the theater.
From Crystal Lake and the north:
- Take Il. 31 south to Chicago St. and then east to the theater or
- take Il. 25 south to Chicago St. and then west to the theater.
From Aurora and the south:
- Take Il. 31 north to Chicago St. and then east to the theater or
- take Il. 25 north to Chicago St. and then west to the theater.

- take US 20 east to the Il. 31 exit, north on Il. 31 (State St.) to Chicago St.,
east on Chicago St. to Douglas Ave., north two blocks on Douglas Ave. to
Division St., and
then east to the theater.
From Crystal Lake and the north:
- Take Il. 31 south to Elgin where it becomes State St. and
continue south to Chicago St., east on Chicago St. to Douglas
Ave., north two blocks on Douglas Ave. to Division St., and then east to the theater or
- take Il. 25 south to Elgin where it becomes Dundee Ave. and
continue south to Division St., and then west to the theater.
From Aurora and the south:
- Take Il. 31 north to Elgin where it becomes State St. and
continue north to Chicago St., east on Chicago St. to
Douglas Ave., north two blocks on Douglas Ave. to Division St., and then east to the theater or
- take Il. 25 north to Chicago St., west on Chicago St. to
Center St., north two blocks on Center St. to Division St., and then west to the theater.

Bus
Bus service in and to Elgin is available via Pace, Van Galder, and Greyhound. The bus station is located at 100 West Chicago Street.
The bus station is across the street from the train station (see below). Theater
355 is located four blocks east of the bus station on Chicago Street with bus service
direct to the door via Pace Route 544
and Pace Route 554.
The Elgin Art Showcase is located two blocks east of the bus station and
then two blocks north (turn north on Douglas Ave.). There is no Pace bus service
to the Elgin Art Showcase.

Train
Train service to Elgin is available via Metra. The train station (use the Chicago Street train station) is located at 109 West Chicago Street.
The Chicago Street train station is across the street from the bus station (see
above). Theater 355 is located four blocks east of the train station on Chicago Street.
See above for connecting bus service direct to the theatre.
The Elgin Art Showcase is locate two blocks east of the train station and then
two blocks north (turn north on Douglas Ave.). There is no connecting bus
service to the Elgin Art Showcase.
